Motherhood Lessons Learned So Far

#1. Don't consider yourself being on time simply by being out the door. You must remember that getting the kids in the car, making sure you have everything, etc will also take time.

#2. Shower before the kids wake up. I should have known this. I thought I would be able to squeeze in a shower this afternoon, but ha! I was wrong. I won't even tell you what time I got around to showering today.

#3. Don't keep goodies around the house. Now, my sister-in-law was kind to make sure there was lots of good snacks for us, but having Doritos, Oreos, cookies, peanut butter M&Ms, ice cream, and lots of other good snacks around is dangerous! Being at home all day long makes it so tempting...which brings me to my next lesson.

#4. Brush teeth often. This will help you resist those urges for treats. Just knowing they are there makes it really hard not to think about them.

#5. Don't try to keep a clean house. It's nearly impossible. I have a new respect for mothers who do have a clean house. I think it will be much easier to save the stress throughout the day and just do a pick-up at night.

#6. Enjoy the simple things. Its easy to get caught up in the things that don't matter.

#7. Seeing your husband with little kids can do great things for your relationship.

#8. Get outside at least once a day. That little bit of sunshine goes far!
